Luis De La Fuente has 26 years of internal audit experience, and has served as the head of Internal Audit for BBVA Spain & Portugal and BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking. Between 2016 and 2021 he was Chief Audit Executive at BBVA in the USA.
Since 2021 De La Fuente serves as the Head of Internal Audit for Sustainability, Talent and Culture at BBVA, reporting to the Chief Audit Executive of BBVA Group. In his role he provides audit coverage of climate-related and environmental risks, sustainable finance, sustainability reporting, talent management and corporate culture. De La Fuente is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and holds a Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) by the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is also a Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) by the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS).
